Pool Care Questions.
Answers to common questions about pool cleaning and maintenance in Adelaide.
How much does pool cleaning cost in Adelaide?
Poolvive regular maintenance is $99 per visit plus chemicals, with 4- or 6-week service intervals. Green Pool Recovery starts from $349 for a one-off treatment with chemicals included. Prices exclude GST; we confirm your quote before work begins.
What is included in a pool maintenance service?
A regular visit includes water testing and chemical balancing, brushing, vacuuming and skimming, cleaning skimmer and pump baskets, and checking your filtration equipment. We provide a service report so you know what was done and what needs attention between visits.
How often does my pool need cleaning and water testing?
Poolvive offers professional maintenance every 4 or 6 weeks. These visits do not replace routine care: check chlorine and pH at least weekly, and more often during hot weather, after rain or heavy swimming. Remove debris and empty baskets regularly between visits.
Why has my pool turned green?
Green water often means algae has grown because sanitiser levels are too low, water chemistry is out of balance or circulation is inadequate. Heat, debris and a dirty filter can make it worse. Testing the water and checking equipment helps identify the cause before choosing a treatment.
How much does green pool recovery cost in Adelaide?
Poolvive Green Pool Recovery starts from $349 for a one-off treatment, with chemicals included. The final quote depends on pool size, the severity of the algae and the condition of your filtration system. Equipment repairs, if needed, are quoted separately.
Is it safe to swim in a green or cloudy pool?
Avoid swimming until the cause has been addressed, sanitiser and pH are in the correct range, and the water is clear enough to see the pool floor. Poor visibility is a safety risk, and clear-looking water alone does not prove that it is safe. Follow chemical product instructions before re-entering the pool.
Why is my pool cloudy even after adding chlorine?
Cloudiness can come from fine debris, a clogged or faulty filter, inadequate circulation, algae or unbalanced water chemistry. Adding more chlorine without testing may not fix the cause. Check the filter and water balance first, or arrange an inspection.
Do saltwater pools still need chlorine and maintenance?
Yes. A saltwater chlorinator converts dissolved salt into chlorine, so you still need to check chlorine levels, pH, salt concentration and the chlorinator cell. Saltwater pools also need brushing, debris removal and filter care; they are not maintenance-free.
How many hours should I run my pool pump?
The right run time depends on pool volume, pump flow, chlorinator output, temperature and swimming activity. General Australian guidance is around 8–10 hours daily in summer and 4–6 hours in winter, but your equipment instructions and water test results should guide the actual setting. Variable-speed pumps may need longer at lower speeds.
How often should I clean or backwash my pool filter?
Follow your filter manufacturer's instructions and monitor pressure and water flow. Clean a cartridge filter or backwash a sand filter when the pressure rises above its clean operating range or flow drops. Debris, algae treatments and heavy use can mean more frequent cleaning; do not rely on a fixed calendar alone.
Does my pool need maintenance during an Adelaide winter?
Yes. Even a covered pool needs circulation, water testing and occasional cleaning through winter. Cooler weather may reduce chemical demand and pump run time, but stopping maintenance completely can allow algae and equipment problems to develop before summer.
Do I need to be home for a pool service?
You do not need to be home if we have safe access to the pool and equipment area. Please secure pets and let us know about locked gates or access instructions before the visit. Call 0488 892 058 to discuss your booking.
